Marlin & Associates Advises MSCI on its sale of FEA to Allegro
Dear Clients and Friends,
We are pleased to announce another successful m&a transaction on which Marlin & Associates has advised.
Our client MSCI Inc., a leading provider of research-based indexes and analytics, completed the sale of Financial Engineering Associates, Inc. (FEA) to Allegro Development Corp. (Allegro), a global leader in Commodity Management software and solutions, and portfolio company of Vector Capital.
This strategic transaction combines two firms, Allegro and FEA, each with strong and longstanding brand recognition in the industry. FEA's products cover thousands of different instruments and assets, giving energy and commodity customers the ability to model the breadth of their enterprise portfolios. FEA’s solutions are a natural strategic fit with Allegro’s distribution channels, investment strategy, and extensible CTRM software suite. Founded by Professor Mark Garman, co-author of the Garman-Kohlhagen option pricing formula in 1989, FEA was acquired by Barra in 2002, which in turn was acquired by MSCI in 2004.
Frank Cummings, FEA’s General Manager, said: "The Marlin & Associates team was a highly valued player in completing our transaction. Their professional expertise and commitment to the process, preparation, positioning, presentation, and leadership got us to the finish line. They’re smart, available whenever needed, and bring the work ethic to get the deal done.”
We are pleased to have been the exclusive financial and strategic advisor to MSCI and to have helped them find an outstanding partner for FEA. MSCI’s announcement can be read HERE.
